BLO on SIR duty dies of cardiac arrest in Rajasthan

A government school teacher working as a Booth Level Officer (BLO), tasked with the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) duty, died of cardiac arrest in Rajasthan’s Sawai Madhopur district on Wednesday. His family members alleged that a revenue officer had called him minutes before he collapsed.

Hari Om Bairwa (34) a grade-III teacher posted at Sevti Khurd Government School in Sawai Madhopur’s Khandar tehsil, collapsed suddenly after receiving the phone call from the Tehsildar. He was rushed to a hospital, where the doctors declared him dead.

Bairwa’s relatives alleged that he was under “severe stress” because of the excessive workload of SIR for the last one week. “He was working till late night and used to wake up early. He collapsed five minutes after the Tehsildar told him something over the phone,” Bairwa’s father Brij Mohan said.

While the Tehsildar denied the allegation and said he had only conveyed the instructions received from higher authorities, the police said the cause of Bairwa’s death would be revealed after post-mortem. No formal complaint in connection with the incident was made at Khandar police station as yet.

Earlier, another government school teacher in Jaipur, Mukesh Jangid (45) allegedly died by suicide on November 16, and his family claimed that he was under pressure to finish the SIR-related work assigned to him.
