A case was registered against Farhan Akhtar’s mother, Honey Irani’s driver, Naresh Ramvinod Singh, by Bandra police for alleged cheating. He is accused of using a card in Farhan Akhtar’s name to top up the fuel tanks of Honey Irani’s vehicles.As reported by The Free Press Journal, the Mumbai police have arrested the driver for alleged cheating.
Honey Irani’s manager had filed a complaint
According to IANS, on October 1, Honey Irani’s manager, Diya Bhatia, 36, filed a complaint with the Bandra police. She alleged that the driver and a petrol pump employee, Arun Amar Singh, together cheated around Rs 12 lakh.Investigations revealed serious discrepancies. The car Naresh used had a 35-litre tank, but records showed 62 litres of diesel being filled. He had also purchased oil for a vehicle that had been sold seven years ago.
Driver reportedly admitted to committing fraud
During police interrogation, Naresh reportedly confessed to the crime. He said that in 2022, he had taken the fuel cards from Farhan Akhtar’s former driver and had been using them at the S.V. Road petrol pump near Bandra Lake. He admitted withdrawing cash without refuelling, in amounts ranging between Rs 1,000 and Rs 1,500 per transaction.
Police registered criminal case against driver
The Bandra police have registered a case under sections 316(2) (criminal breach of trust), 318(4), and 3(5) of the Indian Penal Code. Naresh Singh has been arrested, while the petrol pump employee is also being investigated.
