Stock Market Open Today? BSE, NSE Conduct Mock Trading Session On Saturday, March 1, 2025

The Indian stock markets, which typically do not operate on weekends, will be open for trading today, Saturday, March 1, 2025. This is due to a mock trading session organized by the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) and the National Stock Exchange (NSE). Both exchanges have issued circulars informing traders about the session across multiple market segments.

Mock Trading Session Timings and Details
In Trading Session-1 from the Primary Site, the morning Block Deal Window (Session-1) will open at 9:45 AM and close at 10:00 AM. The market pre-open period will begin at 10:00 AM and close at 10:08 AM, followed by normal market hours from 10:15 AM to 3:30 PM during the mock trading session.

For Trading Session-2 from the Disaster Recovery (DR) Site, the pre-open market will start at 2:00 PM and close at 2:08 PM, with normal trading commencing at 2:15 PM and the market closing at 3:00 PM on the NSE.

Purpose of the Mock Trading Session
The NSE circular states: “Exchange will be conducting a mock trading session in the Capital Market Segment on Saturday, March 01, 2025.”
This session is designed solely for testing and familiarisation purposes. Market participants should note that trades executed during this session will not attract margin obligations, pay-in or pay-out requirements, or create any rights and liabilities.

Stock Market Crash 
On Friday, domestic stock indices experienced their biggest intraday loss of the year, with both the Sensex and Nifty dropping by 1.90%. The 30-share BSE Sensex plunged by 1,414.33 points, or 1.90%, closing at 73,198.10. Similarly, the Nifty 50 fell by 420.35 points, or 1.86%, to settle at 22,124.70.
