Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu has set a target of achieving a growth rate of 20% in the tourism sector during 2025-26.

At a review meeting on Thursday, Mr. Naidu laid emphasis on promotion of the ‘AP… Happy’ concept and developing Gandikota, Suryalanka and Lambasingi as ‘Tent Cities’.

Insisting on utilising all opportunities to develop tourism in the State, he said the visiting tourists should feel happy.

“Andhra Pradesh should become a destination for tourists. The goal is to make them feel that ‘AP is a happy State’. Creating an enjoyable and welcoming environment is necessary,” he said.

Stressing the need for promoting areas with high revenue potential, he said, “Investment incentives for tourism should be provided immediately through an escrow account.”

Stating that there was no place like Gandikota in the country, which was known for its water, hill, and forest forts, Mr. Naidu suggested that it be branded further. The Kadapa Dargah, Ontimitta Ramalayam, and Somasila should also be developed into tourist destinations, he said. “Also, transform Srisailam into a Shakti Peeth, utilising the dam, forest, and Mallanna temple,” he added.

Mr. Naidu recommended changes in the food served at the tourism hotels and encourage the promotion of organic food to benefit both the tourists and farmers.

“Tourists should believe that Andhra Pradesh offers the best food. Upskill chefs if necessary,” he said. As the global hotel industry was rapidly growing, he suggested that training be imparted in hotel management in traditional colleges as well.

The Chief Minister suggested that Gandikota, Suryalanka, and Lambasingi be developed as Tent Cities in 90 days. Additionally, ropeways should be set up under the PPP model. He instructed the officials to prepare an action plan in three months for all these projects.

The officials informed Mr. Naidu that a tourism calendar was being prepared for 2025-26. It would feature 37 tourism events, including two international events and 12 mega events.

Tourism Minister Kandula Durgesh was among others present.
