The Nandigama police of the NTR Police Commissionerate arrested four persons on charges of planning to murder a man who had performed the wedding of a young couple against the wishes of the girl’s family, in Nandigama on Sunday (January 2).
According to the police, a man identified as Kola Narasimha Rao had hired a gang to eliminate a man named Muvva Gopi, who had reportedly helped Narasimha Rao’s daughter marry a man named Muvva Veerraju.
Police said Narasimha Rao’s daughter married Muvva Veerraju, of Itavaram village in NTR district, one year ago against the wishes of her family. The wedding was performed by Muvva Gopi, a relative of Veerraju.
“Narasimha Rao bore a grudge against Muvva Gopi for performing the wedding and hatched a plan to eliminate him. The accused hired three persons to execute his plan and said he would pay them ₹1 lakh for carrying out the murder,” said Nandigama Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) A.B.G. Tilak.
Police said the girl’s father paid an advance of ₹10,000 to the gang, which subsequently carried out a recce of Mr. Gopi’s residence at Kambhampadu village in A. Kondur mandal of NTR District during the Sankranti festival.
Acting on a tip-off, police arrested the gang members Banala Gopi Raju, Polampalli Vijay Kumar and Chintaginja Saidulu and Narasimha Rao, at Mayuri Theatre in Nandigama town on Sunday.
Police seized knives used in rooster fights, a two-wheeler and ₹2,000 cash from the gang. An investigation is on.
