CID apprehends accused in ₹95 crore cryptocurrency fraud

The Telangana Crime Investigation Department (CID) apprehended the key accused involved in a cryptocurrency fraud amounting to ₹95 crore. The arrest follows a complaint lodged by Arra Manoz Kumar, a resident of Karimnagar.

The accused, identified as Kurrimela Ramesh Goud, 47, from Nellutla village in Lingala Ghanpur Mandal of Jangaon district, reportedly set up a fraudulent website under the name ‘GBR’. Through a WhatsApp group, he lured innocent individuals with promises of high returns on investments in cryptocurrency. The complainant, along with 43 other victims, transferred approximately ₹95 crore to the accused and his family members. However, the accused failed to repay any of the investments, ultimately defrauding the victims.

Kurrimela Ramesh Goud was apprehended and remanded in judicial custody, and efforts are under way to apprehend the remaining accused involved in the scam.
