Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis wished Indian chess player D. Gukesh on becoming the youngest Chess Champion on over phone call on Friday (December 13, 2024).
Congratulating him on his achievement, Mr. Fadnavis said, “A marvellous achievement that inspired countless young hearts. Wished him continued success in all his future endeavours,” in a post on social media platform X, sharing the video of his phone call with Mr. Gukesh.
Further, he invited Mr. Gukesh to Maharashtra for a felicitation. “Looking forward to welcoming and felicitating him in Maharashtra!” Mr. Fadnavis posted.
Mr. Gukesh became the youngest world chess champion beating the record previously held by Gary Kasprov. He achieved the feat in the 14th game against China’s Ding Liren at the FIDE World Chess Championship 2024 at Singapore.
