Kudumbashree micro-plan execution for landslide survivors begins on Thursday


Micro-plans prepared by the Kudumbashree for 1,084 families that survived the Mundakkai and Chooralmala landslideon on July 30 this year but lost their houses and livelihood are set for execution.

It is the Kudumbashree that functioned as nodal agency for preparing the micro-plans for the 1,084 families under the Wayanad district administration supervision. The micro-plans include the requirements of 4,636 members of these families in various sectors.

As many as 5,987 services in the areas of health, nutrition, livelihood, skill development, and education have been identified as the needs of families. This comprehensive document has received approval from the district planning committee and the Meppadi grama panchayat. The government aims at improving their lives through the micro plans.

First, a meeting of heads of local bodies where the survivors live will be convened under the leadership of the District Collector to explain details of the micro-plans and future programmes. Priority will be given to activities providing livelihood to the survivors at the earliest. For this, short-term schemes under various departments will be used. If needed, the departments will be directed to prepare new schemes.

Minister for Local Self-Governments M.B. Rajesh will inaugurate execution of the micro-plans and distribution of Kudumbashree’s financial assistance at Meppadi on Thursday. T. Siddique, MLA, will preside. Minister for Welfare of Schedules Castes and Scheduled Tribes O.R. Kelu will deliver the keynote address. Priyanka Gandhi, MP, will be the chief guest. I.C. Balakrishnan, MLA, will give away the Finance department’s aid, while district panchayat president Samshad Marakkar will distribute the Social Justice department’s aid.
