Geetha Pictures to produce ‘Shakhahaari’ director Sandeep Sunkad’s next

After basking in the success of Bhairathi Ranagal, Geetha Pictures has announced its next. Helmed by Geetha Shivarajkumar, politician and wife of veteran star Shivarajkumar, the production house will bankroll a film to be directed by Sandeep Sunkad, who debuted with the impressive thriller Shakhahaari in February, 2024.

The movie will star Dheeren Rajkumar, the grandson of thespian Dr Rajkumar, in the lead. It is the first film from the banner to feature a lead actor other than Shivarajkumar.

“Discussions have been going on for months, and when I narrated the story to Shivanna (Shivarajkumar) and Geetha Shivarajkumar, they both loved it instantly,” said Sandeep, who directed the crime drama Shakhahaari starring Rangayana Raghu and Gopalkrishna Deshpande.

Dheeren said, “After my debut, I took a step back to understand the industry better. While there were many offers, I wanted to wait for the right script that would challenge me as an actor and highlight my potential. Your second film is where your mettle as a performer truly comes through.”

While the team remains tight-lipped about the genre and technical crew, the film is slated to go on floors soon. Geetha Pictures’ Bhairathi Ranagal, starring Shivarajkumar and directed by Narthan, released in theatres on November 15, 2024 and emerged as a blockbuster.
