UK-based consultancy firm Brand Finance has named Amul as the world’s strongest food brand and dairy brand. This is the fourth time the Indian dairy giant has been chosen as the strongest dairy brand in the world.
According to Brand Finance’s annual report, “Food & Drink 2024,” Amul has emerged as the world’s strongest food brand in 2024; previously, the brand held the second position in 2023. The brand scored 91.0 out of 100 on BSI and an AAA+ rating.
This ranking of Amul was based on strong performance on familiarity, consideration, and recommendation metrics. Out of the top 50 global brands in the featured report, Amul is the only Indian brand heralded for excellence.
Amul’s wide acceptability, marketed by the largest farmer cooperative in the world, Gujarat Cooperative Milk Marketing Federation, speaks volumes of deep-seated trust and consumer loyalty. Jayen Mehta, Managing Director, Amul, opines, “This is indeed a proud moment for the entire Amul team and our 3.6 million farmers. We have always believed that the real currency for Amul is not milk but trust, and it is this trust that has built a brand loved by generations over the last 78 years.”
Amul procures 11 billion litres of milk every year and is valued at Rs 80,000 crore, USD 10 bn, with its products being purchased 22 billion times every year—the highest in the world.
