A total of 50 digital libraries are set to be established in Nagarkurnool district as part of a larger initiative to promote knowledge and awareness among rural students and communities.
According to Nagarkurnool District Collector Badawat Santosh, the project is being taken up with the special initiative of local Congress MP Mallu Ravi and will be funded through Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) contributions. Under the plan, 50 digital libraries will be set up across Nagarkurnool, Wanaparthy and Gadwal districts falling under the Nagarkurnool Lok Sabha constituency, at an estimated cost of ₹1.2 crore. Of these, 29 libraries will be developed in Nagarkurnool district alone.
Mr. Santosh said each library would be constructed at a cost of ₹2 lakh. The facilities will be set up constituency-wise, with Kalwakurthy getting eight libraries, Kollapur seven, Nagarkurnool seven and Achampet seven. The proposals for all 29 libraries have already been sanctioned, he said, adding that he had directed officials to expedite land acquisition and construction works and ensure that required infrastructure is created without delay. District Panchayat Officer Sriramulu has been asked to supervise the works and complete them within the stipulated time.
Mr. Santosh said digital libraries would give rural students access to modern learning resources and help spread knowledge and awareness among the wider community.
